- The Board. The UUCR Board is compised of 10 members, elected by the congregation, who serve rotating terms. The Board positions consist of: The President-elect, the President, the Past President, the VP Council, The VP Finance, the Clerk, and four members-at-large. The Board is specifically tasked with setting policies, making financial decisions, and developing & implementing the long-range goals of the church. Details.
- The Council. The Council is the way the church supports the day to day volunteer activities of the church -- which is the majority of church functioning! Details
- Ministry Committees
- COM. The Committee On Ministry is primarily a listening and advising body. Their overriding task is to remain vigilant to the health of the congregation. If you have an idea, a compliment, or aconcert, the COM is the best place to take it. The COM meets monthly.
- REMC. The Religious Education Ministry Committee is tasked with keeping a special eye and ear to the health and vitality of our Religious Education program for children and youth. They work closely with the Directory of Religious Education
- MMC. Like the REMC, the Music Ministry Committee is a ministry committee with a special focus -- attention to the professional and congregational aspects of our Music Program. The MMC works closely with our Music director.
- Committee on Harmonious Relations. It is part of our UUCR commitment to be aware of and at all times try to follow the "Path of Five." Howver, sometimes a situation arises which is more difficult that can be handled by simple one on ony conversation. When trouble seems to be brewing, or a situation seems to need a more attentive form of care, the CHR is available to help.
- Choir. Rehearses Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings; sings in service twice monthly, with special performances at other times. Contact Kerry Morgiewicz for more information (342-8888)
- Adult Religious Education
- Personal Growth Covenant Group. This covenant group uses books, discussion, meals, etc. to promote the ongoing personal development and enrichment we all seek. Rick Terrell (776-0705)
- Non-theists. This interesting group meets monthly at the church. Members take turns leading discussions that range anywhere from book reviews to in depth looks at topics such as Eugenics. Mary Boenke (890-3957)
- Book Group. Reading for pleasure, education, and communion. Meets monthly. To learn which book is in progress, dates and sessions times, see our newsletter.
- Fluusie. (Fun Loving UUs Seeking Interesting Entertainment). Meets monthly, on different evenings (usually Sunday nights) and in different member's homes, for food & a rollicking good time. Contact the church to see (342-UUUU) or keep an eye on the Greeter table.
- Lavender Gatherings. Please join us for our monthly Gathering of UU lesbians and women allies. Each second Saturday of the month we meet and share a delicious potluck dinner, laughter and fun. For more information or directions please call 989-3822. Children welcome.
- Men's Luncheon. Meets at 12:30 pm each Thursday for manly camaraderie. contact Ron Salzbach. 989-6902
- Social Action Committee. For details, contact George Loveland, (540)489-5377
- Theatre Group. This very informal group meets "occasionally". We've put on an evening of "laid-back theatre," done a Sunday service, and hope to do more in the future.
- UUFETA. The Roanoke Chapter of the Unitarian Universalists For the Ethical Treatment of Animals meets the fourth Sunday of the month at 12:30 in the small sanctuary. Susan Thomas 989-3822. Please see UFETA
