Rev. Audette Fulbright

Minister

Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke

Education:

She attended a performing arts high school and began college on an acting scholarship. She has studied and traveled abroad, particularly in the former Soviet Union. She considers the birth of her daughter as the 'most transformative' event in her life and required her to "engage the world deeply."

Employment:

Her duties included creating sermons and workshops to encourage people to: a) develop their spiritual practices, deepen their faith life, and discern their spiritual gifts; and b) teach people about the current 'paradigm shift' from a mechanistic worldview to a systems worldview, and how they can get involved.

  Denominational and Community Activities:

From Her Ministerial Record:

She hopes her new ministry will be "…a community where people love to worship and connect with one another, and 'community' is not just a word. I need a place where there is an eagerness to be on the leading edge of action and engagement with the world at this pivotal time. I would like to find a congregation who wants their spiritual life to be deeply integrated into the daily, who are actively in search for a return to 'meaningfulness,' both personally and culturally."

From Her References:

"Her combinations of performing arts, aesthetics and sermons were excellent and imaginative."

"Audette's Sunday sermons were excellent: thoughtful, grounded in good scholarship as well as personal experience, and relevant to the lives of the people in the congregation."

"She also exhibited a strong ability to reach out to others – in pastoral care visits, committee work, and simply social interaction. She is open, friendly, easily approached, and skillful at making others feel at ease in her company. She speaks with a quiet authority, yet converses with a positive engagement in the best that others have to offer. There is no sense of condescension or speaking from a power-position when she is engaged with church members."

"…she consistently demonstrated a sensitivity toward others' feelings and circumstances."

"… Audette brings much energy and enthusiasm to her work, … With all this energy and creative thinking, I can see that Audette is susceptible to the all-too-common pitfall of trying to do too much, too quickly for the often slower pace of a volunteer-based organization."

"She is an effective writer and speaker, able to create an immediate rapport with people of all ages."

"The stories (for children's time) were well chosen and enjoyed by all."

Non-Professional Interests:

Storytime at Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden, CO

Being Ember's and Ani's mother is her 'first non-professional love!' She is also a competitive ballroom dancer and previously studied Tae Kwon Do. She also likes to "read, walk, invest in relationships, loves music, movies, cooking, and discussing social, political, philosophical and spiritual ideas." Since her marriage to Rob Fulson in 2004, family life has been a deep center of peace and connectedness.
